Volunteers from the Burg Exchange Club of St. Petersburg spent a sunny Saturday morning this month cleaning, organizing and rearranging the PTA Room/Meeting Hall at UMCM Suncoast’s Center for Early Learning (CEL) @ St. Mark’s.
The Burg Exchange Club volunteers showed up at the CEL ready to dust, sweep, mop and rid the PTA Room/Meeting Hall of old, broken or unsafe toys, cribs, high chairs and other no longer useful items.
The CEL’s 60 families use the PTA Room/Meeting Hall not only for PTA meetings but for student-family events, potluck dinners and family engagement activities.
“It was on my list of priorities to make the room as welcoming as possible. But the task seemed daunting with all the items that had been packed into the corners over the years. Then along came the Burg Exchange Club with their offer to declutter and clean. We are so grateful for their time and effort to make the meeting space a happier space,” said Christina Lombardi-Davis, Director of Early Learning Programs for UMCM Suncoast.
“When we heard that the PTA Room was in a bit of disarray, we knew we had to help. Ensuring that parents have a place where they can engage in the development of their children is important for long-term educational success,” says Victoria Dore, Burg Exchange Club Secretary.
